Scorsese pussy

The hype of The Departed just went cold last night as I sat watching it. I usually do not buy a copy that soon as I usually will wait for the original DVD to be released before getting the pirated copy.

But Apeq got it yesterday, and I am amused for the first time that I can see the 'cigarette burn' that is explained in Fight Club, because well, obviously that came from a master copy which was from a reel. I always notice it at the cinema, but it was the first time I caught it on a DVD.

As I sat there watching, we were both wondering what is left to be shown at the cinema when profanity went on for a series in like every 2 minutes of the film. For those who watched it at the cinema, what the fuck did you watch?

Don't get me wrong. I love the cinema. I love sitting down in rows having the large screen in front of me. It is my dream to watch every movie in the cinema. I call it a dream because I am sure you all know how difficult it is to watch it at the cinema. It's either banned or cut off.

Martin Scorsese's The Departed is like watching Infernal Affair with a whole different cast and different language. If you ask me, there is not much difference except for a little change of characters plot and a little different ending. The acting was terrific if you ask me. But we both think that Joe Pesci would make a better F. Costello, but then again Scorsese need to at least have a little difference between the two movie.

We only wonder if he pays royalty to original writing credits. But it's no doubt a good work.

I would also like to add that we both fell in love with Vera Farmiga's eyes. Such intensed eyes, and the blue hue gets you suck in faster than a vacuum cleaner. It's like the eyes is ripping you naked leaving behind what the society can not see within yourself. Maybe I need my own psychiatrist.

Both the cinemas in my town were closed since early this year. The DVD store where I used to borrow from was closed last year. Thank God the Arthouse filmcentre is still open. That's life when you live in a small town ;-)

On the otherhand, I saw an interview with Coppola on tv the other day and he said one of the conditions he gave to the studio when he was asked to make the sequal to GF was for it to be directed by Scorsese (he will produce of course) but the studio turned him down. He also said that it is now impossible to make *experimental* or innovative films with big studios because it costs the studios too much and the studios now are driven more by *star power* and don't forget the departed was produced by Plan B( Brad Pitt).
I have yet to watch the movie. I will wait for the DVD.
Scorsese said he wants to make indie movies from now on - I am pretty excited about that ;-) maybe he can salvage his vision with those...

this movie is very quentin tarantino-ish though. And matt damon made a lousy andy lau. Not cocky enough yea? I like the movie in general, though I watched it in the cinema, and yea, I was kinda frustrated with the endless skipping from one scene to the other because of the censoring. I too liked the psychiatrist. She's so lovely... No no.. I am very straight.

Scorsese going indie and salvaging his vision would be a very interesting wait. The only surprise was to see Anthony Anderson in it, though for very little screen time. The running drill scene was amusing. Maybe this is call stereotyping but I couldn't stand but to laugh at the hold up scene even though he looked so serious.

He did gave good direction though in The Departed, that I must gave him credit. Only that were surprised most scene were as the same as in Infernal Affair.

Chickie:
And with Quentin Tarantino-ish, you meant the raw gun shot scenes, with blood splattering around or you mean the entire camera shot?

Maybe that is a little different concept added to this movie, since I am sure they wouldn't want everyone to be the same. Di Caprio was intensed as usual.

Maybe Costello was too coked up. He got everything he wanted. I don't think he really care about how his hair looks like. Money and power does that to people.

She's captivating yeah. Not entirely pretty but wow the eyes.

Casino Royale, the darker side of Bond, and practically what shaped the Bond into what we have known all these year. Can't wait too.

Vlad,
but it is a Hollywood spin on Infernal Affair right? That is why it is almost impossible for them to make a good one - it's liek making a sequel in another language :P

The good thing they have Irish mafia. And I love the Irish. God bless them for Jameson and Guiness.

Maybe just a little spin. It is almost exactly like what it is in Infernal Affair.

yeah, I suppose the gore reminded me of tarantino's productions. I mean, it certainly had that 'flavour' especially in the beginning. Somehow later the director seemed to realise that they are basing the storyline on Infernal Affairs and it became more familiar to me that that is the case, towards the middle. If I do make sense here. Heh!

Go get your cup of coffee quick. I think Scorsese's gun shot is more raw. Everytime someone's head exploded, I felt like it was mine.
